The IFK is excited to announce that the 6th IFK World Kata Championships will be held today, Friday, October 4th, 2024, live from K2, Crawley! This prestigious event, hosted in partnership with the British Karate Kyokushinkai, will lead into the 46th British Open tomorrow.

Yerevan Open Cup 2023

An international open tournament in Kumite and Kata will be held in Yerevan, Armenia, on December 23, 2023, for children, girls, juniors, men, and women.

The competition of the participants in KUMITE will be held into age and weight categories of boys and girls 6-7-year-old children 8-9-year-old children, 10-11-year-old children, 12-13-year-old juniors, 14-15-year-old juniors 16-17-year-old juniors, and 18 + year-old men and women.

Participants in KATA will be divided into the following age categories: 6-7-year-old children, 8-9-year-old children, 10-11-year-old children, 12-13-year-old juniors, 14-15-year-old juniors, 16-17-year-old juniors, 18 + year-old men and women.

The preliminary applications are admitted up to 10 December 2023

IFK Kata Swiss Championship 2022

On Saturday, April 9th, 2022, the IFK Kata Swiss Championship 2022 took place in Alpnach. The tournament was organised by Karate Do Obwalden.

A total of 75 Karatekas and 23 teams from eleven dojos took part in the tournament. Congratulations to all participants on their achievements on the tatami.

A big "thank you" goes to all the helpers from Karate Do Obwalden and Ming Karate, the referees, coaches, spectators and sponsors who have contributed to the success of this Swiss Championship.

Pilatus Cup 2022 (pictures and results)

After a break of two years, during which the Pilatus Cup had to be canceled due to the global pandemic, the traditional international junior tournament took place on March 19th, 2022, for the 21st time. Competitors from 10 IFK Switzerland Dojo and a delegation from BKK Wales found their way to Kriens, Switzerland, to compete in Kata and Kyokushin Kumite.

1st IFK International Kata Virtual Course

The IFK Kata Committee launched its online judges course in the USA on the 22nd January 2022 and was well received by all who took part.

We thank the Kata Committee for all their hard work in presenting the course and special thanks go to Shihan Sunil Tailor for creating the online content. We believe this will be a tremendous training tool in addition to the international courses run by our instructors.

IFK Kata Swiss Championship 2021

On Saturday, October 16th, 2021, the Dojo Chur organized the IFK-Kata Swiss Championship in the gyms of the industrial school at Sennensteinstrasse 20 in Chur. A total of 75 karatekas and 23 teams from eleven Dojos took part.

In the morning the karatekas started in the categories elite women and men as well as a mixed team. This was followed by the juniors and offspring with their categories.

Congratulations to all Karatekas on their great achievements. The ranking lists are as follows:

President Shihan David Pickthall joined Shihan Victor Fomin, Shihan Klaus Ming, Shihan Sunil Tailor, and Shihan Itzik Ashkenazi in the meeting and it was decided the committee will conduct an Online Kata Judging Course in the near future.

Shihan Klaus Announced he will stand down from the committee to allow a new member to gain the experience and assist the IFK in improving all elements of Kata tuition and judging. Shihan Janine and the IFK want to thank him for all the work.

Specialized Training Camp in Minusinsk 2021

On May 8-9, 2021, Minusinsk hosted a Specialised Kata Training Camp with Shihan Victor Fomin.

The organizer was the Kyokushin Karate Federation of the Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Republic of Khakassia (Shihan Alexander Brevnov). More than 40 athletes from Minusinsk, Abakan, Shirinsky region, and Tomsk region took part in the camp. The tasks of competitive preparation for the upcoming Kata Russia Championship were solved, including working out the details taking into account the meaning of combat techniques, improving their quality, and the overall energy of performing traditional forms.
